Have a walk downtown where the quaint twisted alleys hide small squares, little fountains or simply offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Enjoy a drink in the old square in front of the Fraterna Fountain, the historical monument which is now the symbol of Isernia.

Just on the side of the Fountain there is a little museum (free of charge) telling the history of Isernia during WWII. On the second floor of the museum you can admire works made by local women on their local “tombolo”

Visit the Cathedral with the remains of an ancient Roman Chruch. Free of charge tours of the cathedral and the ruins beneath it are available. Entrance on the right hand side of the cathedral.
Breath the joyful summer atmosphere or stroll around the Christmas market.

Last, but not least vist the National Paleolithic museum
In the late 70 ‘s a discovery of prehistoric archaeology posed Isernia in the spotlight. An important Palaeolithic settlement going back to around 600-700,000 years ago was discovered. The Paleolithic encampment of Isernia La Pineta is one of the most complete records of the history of human population of our continent.

Getting there.
Getting to Isernia is very easy . Go on to the SP86, turn right following signs for Pescolanciano and then turn right onto SS650. You will get to Isernia in less than half an hour.
